that can be spread to humans through
mosquito bites. According to the
Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), the best way
to avoid WNV is to prevent mosquito
bites. Mosquito season in Kings
County is typically from April
1 to October 31. |

Infected
Mosquitoes. Most
often, WNV is spread by the bite
of an infected mosquito. Mosquitoes
are WNV carriers that become
infected when they feed on infected
birds. Infected mosquitoes can
then spread WNV to humans and
other animals when they bite.
